生理学研究所要覧

国際交流

自然科学研究機構の各機関は，いずれも国際的研究機関として実績があり，国際交流が盛んに行われている。生理学研究所には外国人客員研究教育職員（客員教授２名，客員研究員２名）のポジションがあり，この制度を利用して世界一流の多くの研究者が共同研究を行っている。外国人客員教授には共同研究の傍ら，若手研究者の教育や研究所の評価活動にも協力していただいている。その他にも日本学術振興会博士研究員等の制度を利用して，外国人研究者や留学生が在籍している。また，近年は総合研究大学院大学に入学する留学生が次第に増加している。

生理研の主要な国際交流活動としては，生理研国際シンポジウムがあげられる。毎年１ないし２回開催され，平成２２年度のシンポジウムで第４１回となる。多くの場合生理研教授がオーガナイザーとなり，海外より１０-２０名，国内からもほぼ同数の当該分野の一流研究者を招聘して行うものである。総参加者は１００-１５０名程度である。また平成２０年度より生理研研究会の国際版である国際研究集会が毎年１ないし２回開催されている。

これら以外に，研究者レベルでの国際共同研究が数多く行われている。
