IMOTO, Keiji

Welcome to the Department of Physiological Sciences, or "Seiriken." We seek students who are dedicated to research and study in physiological science, who sincerely love physiological science, and who have clear purposes for studying physiological science. Students, of course, need sufficient basic academic capability to join the world of physiological science as researchers, but you are strongly recommended to have an additional academic specialty, such as physics, chemistry, information science, languages, or any other human or social science. Your additional specialty will surely be an effective weapon in future. Any research and study requires teamwork to carry out and reach goals. It means that being "social animals" is essential to being researchers. To be so, you have to have a mind of cooperation and generosity. Your "emotional intelligence" is the key to becoming successful researchers.

You must have your own purposes and expectations for physiological science if you are interested in studying in this department. I ask you to check some points before you apply, that is, whether your ideas are based only on misguided expectations or subjective ideas. To check, I strongly recommend that you directly contact professors and faculty. You are welcomed to send e-mails and visit labs. Participating in some events is also recommended, for example, the "Orientation of the Department of Physiological Sciences," held every spring, the "Experimental technique training course sponsored by Department of Physiological Sciences" and the "Experimental registration," both held every summer.

Our department may not offer everything that you want; however, we believe that one of our important missions is to prepare satisfactory academic environments for ambitious students. We are delighted to welcome you and hope that you will have a fruitful time, not only in labs or classrooms, but also in the campus life as a member of "Seiriken."
