Interaction with Students in other Departments

In these days, students have been encouraged to have exchanges among students in other fields of the Graduate University for Advanced Studies (SOKENDAI). One example is a joint seminar held with the School of Life Sciences of SOKENDAI.

The seminar had been held for 2 days through November 5 and 6 in 2009 at Tsumagoi in Shizuoka Prefecture with 160 attendees altogether including students and professors from the foundation institutes of the School of Life Sciences; National Institute for Physiological Sciences, National Institute for Basic Biology and National Institute for Genetics. The seminar was very productive in deepening the exchange between graduate students by providing graduate students chances for presenting their own research activities through the poster session and oral session, hearing lectures by professors from other than SOKENDAI and holding student-led workshops on their original themes.
