How to get Okazaki from the Tokyo International Airport (Narita, NRT)

JR line (Narita Express or other rapid service) takes you from Narita-Kuko station (situated underground the airport) to Tokyo Station in 1 hr. You can buy a ticket for Toyohashi. From Tokyo, take Tokaido Shinkansen (JR bullet) train of "Kodama-type" and get off at Toyohashi station. Kodama takes 2 hr and 25 min. Fare from Narita to Toyohashi is about 11,000 yen. ( some "Hikari-type" will stop at Toyohashi for 100 min and all "Nozomi-type" trains do not stop at Toyohashi and take you to Nagoya. You can come also from Nagoya: see below).

At Toyohashi you change trains to Meitetsu line (bound for Shin-Gifu) on track No.3. Take a Tokkyu (super express) or Kyuko (express) but not Futsu (local) train for about 20 min, and get off at Higashi-Okazaki. A ticket (540 yen) is available in the train from the conductor, or at Higashi-Okazaki station.

When you purchase ticket at Narita Airport,

To ask a one-way ticket for one adult for Toyohashi, normal reserved seat (non-reserved), non-smoke (smoke), show

Some kind Japanese will show the train bounded for “Toyohashi”. After 30 min train trip, you have to get off Higashi-Okazaki.

If you use Narita Airport or Kansai Airport, there are JR (Japan Railway) station at the both airport. Reception at the ticket counter of JR station will explain in English about most convenient train for Toyohashi (from Narita) or Nagoya (from Kansai) via Shinkansen line (super express). The counter sells all tickets for Toyohashi or Nagoya. Again it is more convenient to take Meitetsu-line for Higashi-Okazaki at Toyohashi or Nagoya.

If you need other “Show Me” phrases in Japanese as above, please let me know. I will send a pdf for those.
