この度、東京に来日されているので、Said Ghandour教 授を招待しました。 Myelin regeneration has become major therapeutic goal in demyelinating diseases. There is indeed strong evidence that the failure of myelin repair is a major contributing issue to the progression of multiple sclerosis and to its evolution into a chronic disorder. Recently, we demonstrated that treatment of chronic demyelination in mice with testosterone and analogs efficiently stimulates the formation of new myelin and reverses myelin deficiency. Androgen therapy promotes repair by stimulating the recruitment and differentiation of myelin forming cell precursors (OPC). Furthermore, we identified the neural androgen receptor (AR) as a novel therapeutic target in myelin disorders. |
