要旨 |
Spatial pattern of synaptic inputs has strong impact on their integration at dendrites, and plays a critical role in determining neuronal output. We recently found in avian coincidence detectors, which are involved in encoding interaural time differences for sound localization, that excitatory synapses are preferentially distributed at distal location of dendrites particularly in neurons tuned to low frequency sound. In this seminar, I will show evidences for this biased distribution of excitatory synapses, and discuss its implication in the signal processing of the neurons. |
