Call for Joint Research Project Proposals FY 2024 at National Institute for Physiological Sciences(NIPS)

NIPS invites applications for joint research projects. Please check the following link for details. The deadline is Friday, December 8, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.
NIPS will restart accepting as-needed applications for  FY2024 joint research projects in April.
When applying for a joint research project, please use the NINS Open Use System (NOUS), an online management system for joint research projects. User registration and other procedures are required to use NOUS, so please apply well in advance after consulting with the NIPS host researcher.

Important Notifications

If you are planning to apply for the Joint Research, please check the following items and prepare well in advance.
 

《Request for Measures to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19 in conducting Joint Research: Notice to Project Leaders/Representative researchers visiting NIPS 》

In order to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, we would like to ask for your cooperation in visiting NIPS and conducting Joint research projects. For more information, please refer to the notification ( Request for Measures to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19 in conducting Joint Research ).

 After 3. August.2020, visitors are required to fill out the Visitor Screening Questionnaire concerning their health status during the entrance procedure at the security guard office. (To avoid congestion, it is preferable to fill out that confirmation form in advance and bring it with you.) For more information, please refer to both the notification ( Request for taking a screening questionnaire ) and the Visitor Screening Questionnaire Form.


Restrictions on research activities related to the prevention of the spread of the new coronavirus have now been lifted.
 

 

Any projects involving human subjects or specimens obtained from human bodies
 
 If your project involves physiological research on human subjects or specimens obtained from human bodies, or if it involves related fields at NIPS, approval must be obtained from the ethics committee of your institution before the project proposal is submitted to NIPS.

If the project is approved, it will also require the approval of the Ethics Committee for Human Research of National Institutes of Natural Sciences.

Furthermore, if the new proposed project uses the Magnetic Resonance Apparatus (3-T, 7-T) for humans, the approval of the Ethics Committee for Human Research of National Institutes of NaturalSciences will be required after the safety review by the NIPS Interactive Cooperative Project Promotion Committee.

Finally, if a project is classified as “clinical research” by the Ethical Guidelines for Medical and Health Research Involving Human Subjects issued by the Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare of Japan,please consult with your host researcher in advance.
