Scholarships

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) offers scholarships to international students who wish to study in graduate courses at Japanese universities as research students (either non-degree or degree students).SOKENDAI accepts MEXT scholarship students as graduate-level Research Students. There are three ways to apply for this type of scholarship.

Embassy Recommendation
Embassy Recommendation is one of the way to obtain the MEXT scholarship. Since application periods differ by country, those wishing to receive an Embassy recommendation should confirm with the Japanese embassy in their home country.

University Recommendation
SOKENDAI will recommend for the MEXT Scholarship academically outstanding individuals who are considered to be in need of a scholarship. Individuals who are coming to Japan to study at SOKEDAI as Research Students or degree-seeking graduate-level students are eligible for SOKENDAI recommendation.

University Recommendation -PGP-
SOKENDAI International Priority Graduate Program ("SOKENDAI-PGP") is inviting applications for Japanese Government Scholarships (MEXT Scholarships) to provide outstanding international students with an opportunity to pursue doctoral degrees through our academic program.
