NIPS has been adopted as the core organization of “Brain/MINDS Beyond”

This November, NIPS has started participating as the core organization for “Brain/MINDS Beyond*”, a large scale national project of the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) that has started in 2018 spring. As a core organization, NIPS will be supporting the research and development in Brain/MINDS Beyond, as well as the domestic coordination for the international neuroscience research.

*Brain/MINDS Beyond: The project will be in close coordination with two existing projects by AMED, “Strategic Research Program for Brain Sciences (SRPBS)” and “Brain Mapping by Integrated Neurotechnologies for Disease Studies (Brain/MINDS)”. Brain/MINDS Beyond is conducting research on
(1) comprehensive analysis of healthy to unhealthy brain images,
(2) cross-species comparison of human and non-human primate brains, and
(3) development and application of technologies such as neurofeedback in cooperation with artificial intelligence (AI) research. At NIPS, professor Norihiro Sadato, professor Atsushi Nambu and professor Masaki Isoda’s groups are participating in (2).
